The New Berlin Historical Society

The New Berlin Historical Society, contributors to this site, was organized in Oct 2000. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the New Berlin city hall.  Dues are $10 per year.  Our goal is to research the early history of the city of New Berlin, focusing on family histories, as well as the business, educational, social ,cultural and religious history of the community, Additionally, we discuss possible sites for historic marker application and can assist individuals interested in applying for historic markers. Anyone with an interest in the history of New Berlin is invited to join the Society or attend their functions.  For more information, contact Janie Wallace at 830-420-3771 or any member of the Historical Society.

The New Berlin Arts and Crafts Show will be held on Saturday, November 25 at the New Berlin Community Center from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.  The Historical Society booth ath the Craft Sale will have baked goods, candies and other craft items available for sale.  Stop by to visit the Society's booth.  You might find nice homemade gifts for the Christmas Holidays.   Society members with items to donate can contact Tracey Carroll or Janie Wallace.

On the 4th Thursday of each month, the society gathers for an evening of social dining (Dutch Treat) at 6:30 pm at Brietzke's Station (Mrs B's) on FM 775 in downtown New Berlin.  Come and join us for good food and lots of fun.  Ladies and Gentlemen are all welcome to join in the comraderie, sharing old-time stories of long ago.

Society members are beginning to gather treasured old family recipes that have been handed down over the years.  We would like to have stories attached with the old recipes of when we were little children, school youngsters, etc to preserve the history of these precious memories of days gone by.  These items will be gathered for our upcoming cookbook and rememberances.  Any bit of information will be welcome as it is a part of our local history.  Begin to think about what you might be able to contribute to this historical book.
